The Esala Prayer Letter
September 23, 2007
Dear friends,

We have returned home to Ghana. Upon our  return we have discovered that a village about 30 km or so from us has had a tribal conflict between Kombas and Mobas. It happened last week and some homes were burned and some people even killed. It sounds like it was over a chieftaincy dispute.  A disagreement during  market day sparked the conflict.

The military and police have come to the area and have restored peace to that village. Nothing has happened in our area of Nasuan, but we are still proceeding with caution.

Please Pray

  • Please pray for the church of both Mobas and Kombas that they would be a light in the darkness and a voice for peace and for the very real difficulty of loving your enemy.
  • Pray for those who have lost home and loved ones.
  • Pray that we would be safe as we go home and God would continue to protect us - to make us as wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
We have been assured by many people that we are not putting ourselves at risk by going home and we are not going near the conflict area. Our church members are watching out for us and will let us know if the conflict has any chance of  expanding. We do not plan to stay in Nasuan long, only to get some things and visit people before heading down to Accra in a couple of days.

Grace and peace to you all,

Nathan for the family
